Addison Blume, a high school senior attending Herman-Norcross Secondary School was announced as the 2025 MNICCA scholarship recipient at our annual meeting held in St. Cloud on February 18, 2025.
Blume has been involved in agriculture for many years. She started showing dairy heifers in 2nd grade, falling in love showing animals. During elementary school she started a rabbit business, breeding and selling them for butchering. In her high school years she has been raising hogs and having them butchered each August. Addison grew to love the beef industry and now has cattle on the farm and hopes to show a cow/calf pair in the future. She was shown a goat and beef cattle in 4-H, FFA and open class at the state fair. She was on the FFA dairy judging team making it to state in both 9th and 10th grade. With help from her mentor, Randy Larson, she and her crops team made it to the state FFA contest her junior year and have inspired numerous other students to study agronomy. Addison was chapter FFA president for 3 years, has earned the Star Farmer Award and is working towards achieving the State Farmer degree.
Addison has volunteered at her local CHS retail outlet helping out with a variety of tasks learning what agronomists do in their daily work. She is a captain on her school basketball and softball teams, FCCLA treasurer, student council vice-president, serves on the yearbook committee and a National Honor Society member. Addison is confident her experiences will lead to success in the agricultural industry.
Addison plans to major in agronomy at SDSU in Brookings beginning fall 2025. Her career goal is to become a crop consultant and one day start her own business. She cannot wait to see what the future holds and is excited about the new opportunities, experiences, and challenges that come her way.
